HUMSS is one of the academic tracks offered by the K-12 Curriculum Program of Department of Education. This strand focuses on the study of human behavior, arts, culture, literature and politics. It involves political science, anthropology, linguistics, geography, law, sociology, journalism, communication, psychology and other social science related.
Why you should choose HUMSS as your strand?

We often hear those phrases but do we really know what HUMSS Strand is? Humanities and Social Science is more on understanding and studying philosophy, history, disciplines and culture. Some people says that HUMSS is basic but did you know that even if this strand does not focus on Math and Science, it helps you to improve your reading and writing skills especially communicating skills. You will learn how to communicate properly in front of many people, you will also learn how to give a stand about a certain topic because in this strand there a lot of debates that you will encounter. We all know that some of the teenagers are lack in communication and become introvert, this strand will boost your confidence and helps you to show your hidden talents because there’s a lot of activities and performance.

Communication Arts is a
field of study covers various ways by which humans communicate. It focuses on
how verbal and non-verbal messages are used to create meanings in different
contexts using diverse media platforms.
Social Science is a major category of academic disciplines that study human society and social relationships. Social Science disciplines include Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, and Linguistics, among others.
Political Science seeks to understand and explain the theory and
practice of government and politics from the local, national, and international
levels.
Creative writing expose students to a variety of types
of writing and provide them with opportunities to create their own
works. Creative writing majors often take courses focusing
individually on fiction, poetry, playwriting, screenwriting and nonfiction.
History is the study of the sum of human
experience. It is concerned with the past and its present legacy.
Philosophy is
the study of the nature of existence, knowledge, truth and ethics. It challenges your understanding and
assumptions of concepts like human nature and whether God exists.
